Comprehensive Health and Career Education (HCE)

Help Change My City has designed curriculum and lessons to support the youth in school and community through equipping the young people with essential knowledge, skills, and attitudes for making informed, safe, and healthy choices. Our Life Skills program for youth includes the Health and Career Education (HCE), a provincially mandated curriculum for students in British Columbia. This program's 20 week lesson plan emphasizes whole-child development, fostering social, emotional, intellectual, artistic, and physical growth while promoting social responsibility. By addressing these areas, this program helps students develop leadership and decision-making skills necessary for navigating an increasingly complex world.

Core Areas of Focus

We teach students how to set and achieve goals, develop strong work habits, and explore potential career paths.

Our program emphasizes healthy living by fostering an understanding of mental and physical changes, and the importance of healthy relationships. Students also learn to identify and address bullying, stereotypes, and discrimination, building empathy and strong interpersonal skills.

By teaching safety and injury prevention, the program equips students to make smart choices, build strong values, resist peer pressure, and use the internet responsibly.

Empowering Healthy Choices

Our programs include substance abuse prevention, teaching students the risks associated with tobacco, alcohol, and drugs, while promoting strategies for making healthy and good lifestyle choices. By delivering age-appropriate and relevant lessons, our program supports students in recognizing their own potential, building a sense of responsibility, and preparing for future success both inside and outside the classroom.
